    When a published figure on this site turns out to be wrong, the fix is recorded here with the date, the cause, and how it came to light. Nothing is quietly overwritten. Most recent correction: July 27, 2026.

    Corrections policy

    • Errors are fixed at the data layer, so a single correction updates every page that depends on the figure at the same time.
    • Corrections that change a published number are recorded on this page with the date, what was wrong, and how it was found.
    • We name the detection method for each correction, including when the error was found by our own automated checks rather than reported to us.
    • Reports are welcome from anyone. A correction is never quietly overwritten: if a number on this site changes, the change is logged here.

    1. Page delivery

      Roughly 10,500 pages were served the homepage instead of their own content

      What was wrong
      The build step that turns each page into static HTML was capped at 8,000 pages and took them in manifest order. Because unit-pair pages fill most of that manifest, the cap silently consumed the entire budget and left the regional measurement pages, height pages, date-calculation pages and every non-English page with no page of their own. Visitors following a search result to those addresses were served the homepage.
      What changed
      All 18,576 published addresses now have their own static page. The build additionally refuses to complete if any address listed in the sitemap has no page behind it, so the failure cannot recur unnoticed.
      How it was found
      Internal audit comparing the sitemap against the pages actually generated at build time.
    2. Data accuracy

      Microwatt was converted using the wrong power-of-ten factor

      What was wrong
      The microwatt entry in the power category carried an incorrect multiplier, so every conversion into or out of microwatts returned a result off by a factor of ten.
      What changed
      The factor was corrected to the SI definition of 1 microwatt = 1e-6 watt, and an automated check now asserts that every metric-prefixed unit matches its prefix exactly.
      How it was found
      Automated invariant tests added while building the unit alias index, which cross-check each prefixed unit against its SI prefix.
    3. Data accuracy

      US men's shoe sizes converted incorrectly

      What was wrong
      The US men's shoe size scale used an offset that did not match the published Brannock relationship, producing sizes that drifted from the correct value across the range.
      What changed
      The scale was corrected and locked to reference conversion points that are now asserted automatically on every build.
      How it was found
      Automated invariant tests covering the clothing and footwear size scales.
